I’M SORRY I’m the laziest human ever and have not posted in over a month. The worst, I know.

I can use the “I’ve been pretty busy” excuse or the “work has been insane” lie but I won’t. I’ll just say that now I have a day off to unwind and because of that, I have decided to compile a list (or a picture feed) of my favorite Summer outfits for this year. This may be boring for some of you since you’ve seen most of these photos on Instagram already but hey, let’s give it a go. Also be sure to check out the four incredible photographers I’ve tagged who have endured the pain and anguish of shooting with me on a daily basis. They deserve all the credit in the world.

Happy Friday, people!

I now have so many Summer pieces that I’m starting to toss my winter items in the shared living room closet. I’m sure my roommates are oh-so-happy about that. For someone who lives in New York City where it is below forty degrees Fahrenheit for eight months of the year I really should own a lot more than four sweaters and a few light jackets. Sorry but I can’t get enough of the summer wardrobe. I have such an internal debate with myself every time I get dressed in the morning. Do I wear something weather appropriate for the gross, humid NYC day OR do I opt out and decide to look presentable in society? First world problems, I know. Thanks to INC International Concepts I now have the correct clothing to wear when I choose to look like I belong in society. Okay, I’m sweating and my air conditioner is running on high. How is this even possible? Oh, right, New York humidity in the Summer. I’ve been strictly wearing sleeveless shirts the majority of June- fashionable, I know- or I would have yellowed sweat stains on every t-shirt and short-sleeved button down shirt I own and that’s not pretty at all. BUT luckily when the humidity is lower on certain days and it’s not a blazing 85 degree day I have the perfect items from Shop Spring to look semi-decent in (if I’m not already sweating).

I think this is the shortest post I’ve ever done but if I keep typing I’ll probably start sweating…

Cheers to the start of my third Summer in NYC!

After moving to New York City in November of 2014, I dreaded the coming of Summer particularly because, as everyone may or may not be aware, the city is about ten degrees warmer than the surrounding suburbs due to the air quality, the amount overcrowding of a small area, and the lack of vegetation to cool the air. I was nervous that I wouldn’t be near the ocean every day of the Summer anymore and nervous about what I was (or wasn’t) going to wear come Summer. The thought occurred to me of just wearing a bathing suit around the city. Why Brian?

Anyway, thanks to INC International Concepts I have some awesome Summer staples that I know will get me through these (not so, from what I’ve experienced) brutally hot upcoming months. Luckily the past two summers have been pretty moderate temperature-wise which I’m so grateful for -as is my electric bill. Light-weight shirts and a pair of comfortable pull-on shorts are the way to go this summer. If you want to go a bit more dressy but don’t want to look like you’re going to a formal business meeting try the new banded collar button down which still creates a fun, casual look without being too dressy. Another solid Summer choice is the mesh shirt which is unbelievably breathable and will help you stay rather cool during these next few months.

It’s finally t-shirt and shorts weather! My favorite time of year. The only three-four months out of the twelve when it’s not either unbearably cold or dreadfully rainy. Ah, time to breathe again! And also time to show off my new Spring/Summer wardrobe.

I’m not one for online shopping but when my friends at ShopSpring reached out I decided to give it a shot. It did take me a few days to even get through the tremendous amount of pages and subfolders until I narrowed down a few of my staple summer items.   I bought two awesome print shirts and a pair of shorts and a stylish bathing suit from FCUK that I absolutely love (and that I wore on the streets on NYC because why not). So excited to rock these looks this Summer.

So it’s the same situation every time. You have a special event coming up, whether it be a wedding, a graduation, a bar mitzvah, whatever. You realize you have nothing to wear that’s nice enough for the occasion because you’re a sloppy mess on the daily and only wear t-shirts and the same pair of jeans because like it’s Spring and what else are you going to wear, right? So you head to your local department store, try on an ill-fitting suit, shrug, and say yep that’s good enough for a party in a few days (or a few hours). I mean this is a scenario I’ve been through many a time so I just assumed you’ve all been through it.

Anyway, THIS time I chose to go about it the right way and made an appointment at a menswear “made-to-measure” suit company called Indochino at their SoHo location on Broome Street. You can either book an appointment to go in for a fitting or follow their 14-point measurement guidelines online which would guarantee a perfectly-fitted suit made just the way you like. The fitting took all of 30 minutes and it was quick and painless (no poking and prodding with any pins like you’d more than likely experience at any other suit fitting). I was able to choose exactly what kind of suit I wanted (from over 200 different styles) down to the number of buttons on the jacket, the shape of the lapel, the jacket’s stitching, and even customize the inside of the jacket which I did in a picture below. All in all it was a seamless and enjoyable experience and the suit looks amazing. See for yourself below!

This past weekend I made the journey out west to Indio, California for Coachella Music Festival. It was amazing to say the least. And, might I add, I saw no flower crowns this year! I knew it would be hot and so I tailored all of my outfits accordingly, yet still managed to sweat the entire time. Attractive, I know. Going through two bottles of sunscreen in three days was the least of my worries. The dust/wind combination from the dessert started to affect my eyes as well. LUCKILY I had the perfect shades with help from Eyecessorize to block most of that skin-damaging sun and unwanted desert dust. (They also looked great on!)

My new sunnies protected my eyes from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and were a stylish accessory to my festival wardrobe. The circular lenses of the Vuarnet  and Shwood shades and the darker color of the metal frames suited my face well and complimented my outfit choices. If I were without my sunglasses for longer than a few minutes my eyes would start itching and turn a reddish color. Who knew desert sun would have such an impact? Being out in the sun all day in this heat made me realize the harmful effects the sun can have on your eyes and to your health as a whole and how important it is to protect yourself. Maybe I should have taken precaution with my choice of footwear as well… My feet were on fire for 4 days (and still hurting after a week) but it was totally worth every callus!

Throughout your life, your personal style usually changes, whether it be because of the situation you’re in, the friends you have, or simply because time is passing and you need to keep up with trends. I grew up in an affluent town on Long Island and went to Catholic private schools from my early childhood until I attended college upstate. Up until I graduated from college, if you were to see me, I would probably be wearing an oversized button-down dress shirt, some khaki shorts down to my knees (or passed them) and boat shoes. ALWAYS boat shoes. Those were a staple.

After college I moved to NYC and my style drastically changed. I went from the “preppy college kid” look to the “trying to impress other people and figure out where I fit in within NYC” look. Tight shirts and tighter pants from cheap brands were happening (hell) and it was just not a great look both for me and for others to look at.

I FINALLY made some tweaks to my wardrobe and figured it out. It was about time.

Until wearing the new Tech Prep from GANT I hadn’t worn a button-down shirt (besides to a wedding or work) since I don’t even know when. Even though it brought me back to those preppy college days I miss so badly, this time it was different. The shirt fit my body type where it was breathable and slimming at the same time. It was easy to move in (especially in the hustle and bustle of this crazy city) and both the style and design were appealing to the eye, the colors just popped. The shirt was #nevernotcomfortable, let me tell you. I decided to try some sweater options as well and was not disappointed. Also like how good do I look in a sweater? Kidding, but not really 🙂 My two options for sweaters both compliment the Tech Prep and the navy pants I chose (which were awfully comfortable). Thank you GANT for making me feel that wonderful sense of nostalgia but still helping me stay true to my current style (which, who knows, may change soon. Ya never know).
