Every time I get out work during the weekdays I always find myself wandering around the streets of SoHo (specifically Broadway, Spring, and Prince streets) walking in and out of every store I pass hoping to find one or two reasonably priced items to complete my forever-incomplete wardrobe. This has become almost robotic for me now. I find my body involuntarily pulled toward the stores on Broadway feening to buy something new for myself. It’s both a gift and a curse that every store is at my fingertips.
Regardless of the season, I always tend to search for pants first. I tend to wear spring for pants (rather than shorts) even in the warmer months. I have this personal stigma that only boys wear shorts? I know that’s wrong but I can’t seem to shake it. Maybe the whole shorts and sneakers look reminds me too much of myself in high school or college? Not sure. So yes, I always gravitate towards bottoms first and then search around for a proper accompanying top or just an item that would look good in my wardrobe. Sweaters are the first things I look for because, as you know, I care about comfort over anything. My sweater collection in my apartment is honestly no joke. I have a serious problem. Tops are easy to pick out. Sweaters, tees, button-down shirts are all a piece of cake to pull off with regard to any body type. Pants are the real menace here. It is so hard to find pants that fit me well. I’m somewhat on the shorter side (5’10) so even a 30 length is sometimes too long for me an the waist? Forget about it. I’m floating in between 30 and 32 and never really know which to choose. Topman is my savior when it comes to all things denim. The width of the waist is perfect; the pants always sit perfectly around my hips. The length is unlike any other brand as well. Their size 30 is the perfect length for me to cuff them one or two times which I love to do and their skinny fit isn’t too snug around my legs. The jeans don’t break the bank either. You can find a stylish pair for as low as $60 which is such a reasonable price for denim. So you get both quality and affordability.
