As a born and bred New Yorker I know that we all have a serious aversion to colorful clothing in the colder months (and some people in the warmer months too). I’m not sure if it’s because of the freezing temperatures, our mental state, the fact that they say black slims you, or the fact that they primarily sell dark clothing in the shops but we tend to gravitate towards the darkest color of them all. The reason I tend to wear black is because it compliments any other color I wear with it. Regardless of these facts, as the winter season comes to a close (slowly but surely) I am trying to step away from the dark side and step into the light and into that color wheel everyone’s so afraid to pull from. Lacoste has introduced an array of colorful pieces in their new Motion Collection that will make your end of winter/beginning of spring wardrobe pop in the greatest way possible.
Yes, yes I know it was 35 degrees in the city today. That doesn’t mean I can’t hang outside and rock a colorful getup while I’m at it! Lacoste just introduced my favorite colorblock zip jacket which is water-resistant and pretty durable. The jacket is made of 100% polyester and personally I found it kept me quite warm in the sunny 35 degree day. Two jackets similar to this one are the lightweight quilted short parka & the hooded color-block zip up sweatshirt. I chose the jacket based on the awesome color-blocking that you wouldn’t find in my wardrobe. Lacoste has also brought back the long parka but made it “cool.” The packable crease-proof parka is the perfect piece for those rainy early-Spring days and the color-blocking on the jacket is awesome. A similar piece to this park is the 3-in-1 lightweight water-resistant parka.
What’s a statement jacket without a great pair of pants- or elevated track pants I should say. I guess I would call these statement track pants because they certainly make themselves known to the eyes. The French terry track pants are the perfect pop of red for any look you’re going for. They would even be a great addition if you happened to be in all black). The pants are 100% cotton and so comfortable. Similar to these are the stretch track pants that have a bit more elasticity to them. Also, if you’re looking for more of a chino and great pants to travel in then look no further than the Motion ergonomic pants. Perfect for those long plane rides or a normal day at work.
So here I go on my journey to put some more pop in these outfits. I think I’m off to a good start with these amazing pieces from Lacoste!
