So I’ve been thinking of how I should word this because I don’t want to hate on my fellow New Yorkers but at the same point I want to stress a point of view that I have. I’ll just say that New Yorkers are BRUTAL with a capital B. While in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend I have witnessed the nicest, most unusually friendly people I have ever met in my life. People just smile at you on the street for no reason. Waiters and hotel staff look like they actually like their jobs. CRAZY, RIGHT?! I wish you all saw my face when I encountered my first Ohioan. It was a complete look of confusion. But good confusion! People even started actually conversations with me at places. No New Yorker would ever do that. Not because they’re mean-spirited but because everyone in New York always has somewhere to be. People in Columbus actually cared about what you had to say after their initial “How are you?” It was such a breath of fresh air. This was no exception at Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph.
Le Meridien is in the most convenient location on High Street in Short North. For those who don’t know Short North is the art district and the place to be in Columbus. It has every bar and restaurant with every type of cuisine you can imagine. Everything is one or two blocks from each other! There’s really no need to leave High Street. The hotel has an incredible view of downtown Columbus and I was lucky enough to have a room on the top floor of the hotel overlooking the city (view pictured below). The room was really one of a kind AND bigger than my entire apartment in NYC! The hotel is equipped with a workout facility, an art gallery on the second floor, and a bar named Soul which was quite delicious. I would recommend the Soul Burger and the Korean Chicken Wings (a bit spicy if you like that- picture below). The cocktails at Happy Hour were a great addition as well! The staff, from the bellmen to the bartender, was extremely accommodating and made me feel right at home. I work at a hotel (as some of you may know) and pale in comparison to the job these employees do. Might have to step up my game a bit! My visit was such an enjoyable respite from NYC life and very much needed. Thank you Le Meridien Columbus for the incredible stay! Check out my photos from the trip below 🙂
