You know what I love? Shopping for myself. You know what I can’t stand? Shopping for other people. OKAY don’t get me wrong I love the satisfaction of giving the perfect gift to someone I care about but the whole picking it out and the sizing and all of that really just takes the fun out of it. Don’t you all agree? Yep, I know you do. That’s why this Christmas I’ve decided to think about myself. Not in terms of what I would want or what I want people to get me but in terms of what I want this person to have or what I think this person really needs whether it be a household items or in their wardrobe. It’s a bonus if that certain thing is on sale too!

Here’s a hard question: What’s one thing everyone needs in the city between the months of November and March? You guessed correctly! The answer is a sweater. That’s such a no-brainer. It really has two functions. The first obviously to keep you warm and the second it’s a simple addition to an outfit and you can call it fashion. Also, the best plus is that if you cant’t decide what size they are you could always get it a size larger because you doesn’t love an oversized sweater during the coldest months of the year? So here is me ruining a not-so-well-kept surprise. I’m getting everyone sweaters for Christmas! You guys should see my effing shoe collection. Is effing something I can say on a blog post even though it’s not even really a curse? Whelp, just did. Anyway, my room is a disaster solely due to the fact that I legitimately have to step over pairs of shoes to get into my bed. Shoes of all kinds line the walls of my room and are packed away in bins in the bottom of my closet. It’s become a real problem. But here’s an even bigger (first world) problem. None of them seem to be ones I want to wear on a daily basis walking around in the city. Okay, it’s cold. Winter is Coming (aka have on the GOT soundtrack while writing this). So much for my last blog post promising you guys that it won’t get below fifty degrees. Awkward. So cool it’s freezing cold out and everyone is scrambling to find stylish yet functional articles of clothing for the fast-approaching winter months that are arriving sooner than we think (aka now). I honestly and truly believed we’d have a tame November and December but nope! Does not look like that’s a thing now. So here we all are freezing cold still trying to decide if we can pull off a jacket and a t-shirt when we go out at night when that’s certainly not the case. 

Time to gear up for winter guys! Parkas, sweaters, long johns? whatever gets you through these long and arduous next five months of hell, it’s time to pull out. But you gotta look good doing it too, right? I have my plan down pat for my next few months here in the awesome but cold NYC. I’ve gone ahead and strengthened my sweater game for the season with the help of Banana Republic.
