sink the sun history

lovers not fighters

Sink the Sun began as Lovers Not Fighters. It was formed by Jon Tilisky and Kevin Kesicki, but was infamous its idleness. In its 13 months as a group all that was accomplished by the band was a bandspace, website, apparel store who’s only purchases were by Kesicki, manager James Hartig, and Debbie Kesicki, Kevin’s mom, a decent performance at a talent show at Center Middle School, a sub-par appearance at a charity festival, an awful demo of “I Can Dig the Singers Who Work to be Actors, but I Can’t Stand the Actors Who Think They Can Sing,” and an acoustic cover of “First Date” by Blink-182. Along with its terrible laziness, LNF had trouble with maintaining a group, particularly its drummers. Lovers Not Fighters went through 6 drummers, none lasting for over 2 months. The band also "employed" 15 staff members, who did nothing except want to be "part of the band". LNF ended due a lack of doing anything and to internal problems between the styles and attitudes of guitarist, Kevin Kesicki, and bassist, Jon Tilisky. The band “broke up,” but since Kevin took vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jacob Lee and drummer Mark Bower to form a new group, Jon was for the most part kicked out of the band.

sink the sun

Once broken up, Kevin Kesicki worked to get friend and guitarist Ryan Hofer into the group. The name was thought up randomly, at a practice, however the band was also considering the name to be "sinking saturn". Finally, the banded decided to just stay with the name sink the sun and well thats what we are. There were speculations of the new band having 3 guitarists, but Hofer ended up playing bass. The manager is still James Hartig, and we have kept two staff members, Tannaz Rowshanbakhtfardian and Carly Brown. They were pretty much the only members that actually showed some remote interest and dedication to the band. On June 27, 2008, Jacob Lee left the band for various reasons. Mark Bower followed suit soon after. Soon after (4 hours) Jake and Bower left, the band found a new singer, Clint, who shows a lot of potential in the band. sink the sun then, after not being able to find a decent drummer, moved kevin to drums, hofer to rhythm, and added a new member, Kevin Cross for lead. This brings us to now...

the website/myspace

The manager maintains the website and the domain was bought from Google via Google Apps for $10 a year. The old site loversnotfighters.net (currently a redirect), started off as a horrible, ugly Google sites template and was poorly updated and maintained. Then the manager got fed up and decided to move the site to an “actually” hosting service and make the site from the ground up, based on another template (see footer). It came out pretty well! We got a decent amount of views, but not a lot. The manager needed to find a source of income for the band, so he decided to put Google ads on the site. This has not paid off that well, but it has helped; already paying off 1.5 years of the domain’s cost. Then came the new name and the band was lucky enough to get sinkthesun.com and they kept the old awesome template but changed the colors around and adjusted some styling options. The Myspace (myspace.com/sinkthesunrock) is considered the band’s major publicity source and is updated by all members of the band. The manager recently added the band to a site called purevolume, the profile is in progress but you can check it out at purevolume.com/sinkthesunrock.
